About the Role

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Catering Manager to join our in-house Team.  Contract is offered on a fixed term basis for 1 year with the possibility of extension.

Applicants must hold a qualification in Food Safety, ideally CIEH Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering or equivalent and also knowledge of food safety practices and procedures to ensure the safe preparation, cooking, holding and service of food in line with HACCP and other legislative requirements.

The Main (Core) Responsibilities, Tasks and Duties include:

- To prepare and cook high quality meals for students and staff

- Ability to maintain effective control systems and records of stock and ensure supplies are stored in accordance with domestic and catering standards to meet accounting and audit requirements

- To maintain high standards of food hygiene in the kitchen in accordance with domestic and catering standards and adhere to the requirements of Food safety and Hygiene at all time

- Understand what constitutes a healthy balanced meal, in line with the food based standards and guidance, and how a kitchen team meet these

- Have an awareness of adapting, scaling and following dish and menu specifications and food standards and when suitable alternatives, such as special menus, can be used to enhance the whole school approach

- To support the cleanliness and hygiene standards within the kitchen and Dining Hall

- To maintain a quality service for staff and pupils at the school.

- To undertake cleaning duties to support the School's cleaning schedule.

You must be a people person, hard working, professional, organised and someone who is a self starter and able to use your initiative.  The demands of this role include the ability to be on your feet for the daily rostered hours and a high level of manual handling and physical dexterity. A capacity to deal with the requirements and demands of meeting service deadlines is required as well as a positive and flexible attitude.

The role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and you will also need your own reliable transport.

Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
