About the Role

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with good communication and word processing skills to provide general administration support in our school office on the East Site of The South Downs School, in particular coordinating Educational Health Care Plans and Annual Review documentation and taking minutes of meetings. Our school offers the right candidate opportunities to work in a happy, busy environment. You will be a key representative of our school greeting visitors when they first arrive. The hours of work will be 9.00am to 3.00pm, Monday to Friday.

The South Downs School is an outstanding (Ofsted 2014) academy special school that educates children aged 3 to 11 with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities including ASD, PMLD and complex needs. There are around 125 pupils on roll. The academy is part of The Southfield Trust which includes a Secondary special academy with which it works closely

This post is initially required for The South Downs School, however, candidates should be aware they may be required to work on any one of the Trust’s four sites.

An application form, job description and person specification can be accessed via the Vacancies tab on our Website

We look forward to receiving your application. Your application will be accepted if sent by email

This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2009.

The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2009 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision. Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2009 Regulations.

If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2009 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.

Additional Information

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System. From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits. The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff will be expected to hold or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau).
