Applicants must be qualified to a minimum level 3, though study at a higher level would be desirable too, and you should hold function skills, or GSCE in English and Maths. We are enthusiastic about facilitating our practitioners to develop their knowledge and gain qualifications. Please note that though this role is advertised on a temporary contract, due to natural staff movement across the Brighton & Hove City Council Nurseries there might be further opportunities to progress or continue if that is desired. You will need to be an excellent communicator with co-workers, parents, and other professionals, and be sensitive to the needs of young children. As well as being a key person for a group of children, you will lead in running sessions, planning a stimulating curriculum and supporting staff on a day –to-day basis. You will be a leader in implementing the Early Years Foundation Stage working closely with the Management team and Deputy Room Leaders. Our ideal candidate will have some experience of early year’s leadership already and will have developed their own ideas and abilities around how to motivate a team. Experience of working with children with SEND, or English as an additional language, is very welcome. You will also be a key holder for the building with responsibilities for locking up and implementing health and safety procedures.
