JOB TITLE Diploma Garden Design Course Manager
LOCATION West Dean College - London Campus (initially in Chelsea, and then moving to Bloomsbury from September)
SALARY £31,500 - £34,000 per annum (FTE)
HOURS 28 hours per week (0.8) 4 days per week
START DATE September 2024 with a period of handover in June (up to 2 weeks)

Please note this is a fixed term contract for 9 months.

The Role
The Diploma Garden Design Course Manager provides a high level of administrative support to both the BA (Hons) and Garden Design Diploma departments, underpinning the smooth running of the courses.
Duties include:
• Planning the Diploma Garden Design with the Course Leader.
• Responsible for all tutor and visit bookings on the Diploma Garden Design course and arranging cover, as necessary.
• Budget planning for the above course.
• Signing off tutor invoices for the Diploma Garden Design.
• Monitoring student attendance and timekeeping, in consultation with course tutors.
• Assisting course tutors to prepare the studio, equipment, and materials, within reason.
• Printing handouts, assessment sheets and other communications, in consultation with course tutors.
• Responding to student queries in relation to administration, equipment, and course-related issues in tutors’ absence.
• Recording student-related issues on the database.
• Collating and maintaining marks for the Diploma Garden Design course and updating database.

Meetings
• Attending and minuting all Diploma Garden Design Student Rep Meetings.
• Attending Staff Meetings.

Who we are looking for:
• This role requires knowledge and practice of teaching in Higher Education and experience of working in practice as a designer.
• Strong IT skills and a high level of computer competency, in particular Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
• Sound attention to detail.
• A working knowledge or understanding of CAD software is preferred.
• The ability to foster a team spirit, high levels of teaching, student engagement and wider engagement in the garden design industry.
