About the Role

We have a rare opportunity for an ambitious Technical Manager to join us and become part of our next phase of growth.

This role is integral to ensuring that all our products meet the highest standards of food safety, legality, and quality in line with BRC and customer requirements.

To achieve this, you will be given full autonomy to lead and manage our food safety standards through our established Quality Assurance programmes, ensuring we maintain our BRC AA+ certification. You will drive quality excellence through working very closely with our internal teams, customers and 3rd party partners, maintaining strong relationships and driving continuous improvement across all technical and quality functions.

Reporting into the Managing Director, you will also be part of the senior leadership, helping to shape our future as we embark on a significant investment programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Pan’Artisan operates in a food safe and legal manner at all times
  • Retaining our 2nd party certification (BRCGS AA+),
  • Manage 3rd party audits from customers and ensuring customers’ requirements are met.
  • Company-wide compliance to all government bodies and legislation and internal company policies & procedures in connection with H&S, Hygiene, Food Safety & Every-day Standards
  • Leadership and management of the companies Quality Assurance Programmes; management review, quality control & measurements, hygiene control, CCP’s control, document control, policy/procedure & specifications compliance, reduction in non-conformance, continuous improvement
  • Leadership and management of the Technical and Hygiene teams
  • Management of key partners; laundry, waste service provider, pest control, Trading Standards, EA etc
  • Critical part of the NPD/EPD gate process working closely with Bakery Product Development, Production and Commercial teams to meet customer specifications
  • Manage Budgets, submit EPR data and be part of the CAPEX team ensuring all technical aspects are considered in the decision making process
  • Lead and manage internal auditing
  • Support and maintain HACCP, TACCP and VACCP and operational team meetings to promote continuous improvement
  • Oversee supplier approval (UK and overseas), due diligence, and compliance documentation
  • Act as a key contact for customer technical queries and audits
  • Work cross-functionally to align group technical systems and share best practices

Candidate Requirements

  • BRCGS version 9 plus a strong understanding of SEDEX
  • Experience of leading QA Programmes and evidence of continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of bakery processes with previous experience a must as well as the understanding of frozen dough manufacturing.
  • HACCP team leader trained to a minimum of Level 3 in HACCP and food safety.
  • Certified Internal auditor
  • Trained on label legality and UK food law
  • Experience in managing an NPD department as well as ensure the successful launch of products after trials completion.
  • LEAN/Six 6 understanding
  • Comfortable with working in collaborative cross functional internal teams 
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving approach
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Confident, decisive, and solutions-focused under pressure
  • Ability to think and act beyond direct department responsibilities
