MYT exists to improve the life chances of young people. To achieve positive outcomes, the charity has to be strong, vibrant, imaginative and hardworking. Our recently implemented core values and beliefs are central to the strategic framework and are inherent through the organisations priorities. The recent evaluation of the current strategic priorities set out in the strategic framework, 'starting with the ends' has given new energy to refocus our thinking, our approaches, our resources and our efforts so that we can be responsive to both internal and external environmental and economic change. The DECIPHer ASSIST role is an exciting opportunity for the successful applicant to improve life chances of young people by supporting them to make healthy choices.  DECIPHer-ASSIST is a 10-14 week smoking prevention intervention which aims to reduce adolescent smoking prevalence. DECIPHer-ASSIST encourages new norms of smoking behaviour by training influential Year 8 students to work as 'peer educators'. Peer educators are trained and supported to have informal conversations with other Year 8 students about the risks of smoking and the benefits of being smoke-free.  Information is more effectively taken on board if the person giving the message is the same age as them and not a teacher of a parent. The coordinator will organise the activities that enable the program to be delivered.
