Salary £16,000-18,000pa + study support post probation

An entrepreneurial Brighton based organisation and affirmed success story that has received much acclaim is currently seeking an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team of 4 people. The position is to replace a long standing member of the finance team who is relocating out of the area. This organisation are going through a substantial period of growth at the moment and re-investing heavily in the business. Their continued success has enabled them to branch out into new areas over the last 12 months and they have many exciting developmental plans ahead.

This role will report directly to the Accounts Manager and qualified Company Accountant and involves a variety of accounts duties in a particularly busy environment. This individual will never be short of things to keep them occupied and it will be a varied, engaging role. The successful candidate will need to show excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

Training will be provided for candidates who have not carried out all of the below duties before. What is most important is an eagerness to learn, ability to pick things up quickly and job commitment.

Duties to include but not be limited to:

* Liaison internally with all aspects of the head office function in preparation and understanding of the monthly management accounts, weekly payments and weekly figures.
* Matching delivery notes to invoices.
* Processing of invoices and preparation of payment run for review, remittance advice emails and fielding queries from suppliers.
* Complete supplier statements.
* Liaise externally with suppliers.
* Raising sales ledger invoices.
* Allocation of payments.
* Bank reconciliations.
* Updating of the fixed asset register of the organisation.
* Contra-ing and reconciling sale and purchase ledger accounts with the cash books for each site.
* Journal entries as required.
* Ensure all transactions comply with VAT regulations.
* Ensure all weekly payroll transactions and records comply with employment law and regulatory requirements and assisting in the annual reporting.
* Act as key contact for all weekly payroll matters.
* Produce as required any ad hoc reports required by the Operations team, or management
* Controlling petty cash.
* Posting of prepayments and accruals for monthly management accounts.

Candidates must have relevant accounts experience at the Accounts Assistant / Ledger Clerk level, good Excel skills, excellent attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
