Finance Assistant

Salary £18,000-21,000pa depending on experience + study support

An entrepreneurial Brighton based organisation is currently seeking an Finance Assistant to join their small finance team. This person will work alongside the company Finance Manager in a diverse and engaging role and will be offered opportunities for further training and professional development. This client is also happy to support study support for the AAT qualification.

This organisation is experiencing good year on year growth and re-investing heavily in the business. Their continued success has enabled them to branch out into new areas over the last 12 months and they have many exciting business development plans ahead.

This role would suit an ambitious and career focused individual with an excellent work ethic and existing experience as a Finance or Accounts Assistant. Candidates need also have good Excel skills and a good academic background.

Duties to include but not be limited to:

  • Debtors: ensure all debtor payments are receipted and certification and revised statements issued on a timely basis
  • Maintain credit card payments tracker and reconcile to BMS/Amex statements at month end
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Enter debit and credit card payments
  • Maintain nominal structure – ensure all entries are consistent.
  • Ensure correct VAT posting on all entries
  • Advise Finance Manager of any ad-hoc currency requirements (non EUR/USD)
  • Update weekly EUR and USD trade balances (funds available to use)
  • Provide financial assistance to Business Managers as required
  • Prepare weekly payment proposals
  • Enter payments on the 'World First' online facility
  • Maintain integrity of internal filing systems; ensure all filing is methodical and complies with agreed finance procedures
  • Compile expense claims on behalf of the MD. Ensure appropriate VAT treatment
  • Enter overhead invoices on a weekly basis
  • Maintain and reconcile petty cash
  • Assist in monthly balance sheet reconciliations
