About the Role

Opportunities have arisen for Social Workers in Adult Social Care Mental Health.

We have two posts in the Mental Health Recovery Team West. The team covers the rural and urban areas of Eastbourne, the High Weald, Lewes and the Havens in the west of East Sussex.

The team is a friendly and supportive one of mental health  social workers and resource officers. Your role  will  be supporting and empowering adult with their social care needs. You will have knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and of Safeguarding Adults at Risk.You will be able to demonstrate effective communication and report writing skills and have knowledge of the main issues in working with adults with complex mental health needs. We are looking for individuals who show a commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and demonstrate an ability to promote Recovery and independence in a supportive manner that minimises risk and achieves positive outcomes.

You will be supported to develop your career and positively encouraged to undertake training  such as  Best Interest training or training in safeguarding and the mental health act.  We support applications from social workers who are not AMPHs. Such candidates if successful are required to undertake AMPH training.  

The posts are in based in Hillrise Newhaven and St Marys House Eastbourne. We are co- located with our health colleagues in Sussex Partnership and we encourage good working relationships to enhance  the outcomes of our clients. We are fully agile and encourage flexible working arrangements.

If appointed  you will  need to be HCPC registered and you  will be  a car driver as the post covers this large urban and rural area.  However  it may be possible to accommodate a non-car driver for a period whilst they work towards meeting this criteria. This is a demanding, but rewarding role and would be a good opportunity for a Social Worker wanting to develop their skills in the field of mental health.

This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau). Please note that we require evidence of an overseas police check if you have lived or worked abroad.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
