The St Vincent de Paul Society (or as it is often known - the SVP) is an international Christian charity dedicated to tackling poverty by providing practical help to those in need through local community projects and a network of 10,000 volunteer members.

Working Hours = You will be contracted to 16 hours per week working Monday to Friday.

Salary = £20,000 (pro-rata)

Contract Type = Fixed Term contract for 12 months

Holidays = The society offers 33 days holiday per year which includes bank holidays (pro-rata).

The main duties of the Project Coordinator will include -

  • Managing functions delivered to older people and members of the community at the Tower House Support Centre.
  • Organising a range of activities for older people aimed at combatting isolation and wellbeing.
  • Managing the Tower House budget ensuring that services are delivered within guidelines.
  • Developing existing activity groups so they continue to meet the needs of the service users.
  • Providing advice and information on a range of issues concerning older people.
  • Recruiting, supporting and training volunteers.
  • Completing written reports when required.

The successful Project Coordinator will have experience in working with older people. It is essential for the candidate to demonstrate the following -

  • Educated to degree level.
  • A clear understanding of the issues effecting older people, including those living with Dementia and safeguarding.
  • Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Great organisational and time management skills including project management experience.
  • First-hand experience of organising and delivering support centre activities.
  • Ability to work under own initiative with minimal supervision.
  • IT skills.
  • Patience and the ability to empathise with older people.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Empathy with the Society's ethos and values.

A familiarity of Catholic Church structures and experience of catering facilities would be advantageous but is not essential.
