Enthusiastic and motivated staff are required to work a rota, this includes working five weekends in six, and some bank holidays to 6.30pm. During the summer season after you have received training and certification, you will be driving trains along the beach adjacent to Madeira Drive. Cashiering on the World's Oldest Electric Railway is also required alternate days. You must have extensive cash handling experience, and excellent customer care skills. You must be able to show past experience of working in shops or retail with the public. Experience of driving motor vehicles is an advantage. You must have a basic knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues around any railway. This position is designated safety critical by the ORR (office of railway regulation); a medical test is therefore required. Full medical tests will take place from 9th - 13th March- it will not be possible to reschedule these tests.

Train driving and cashiering is carried out on alternate days on a rota basis and you get two days off during the week, but not always the same days. The successful candidates will be given an intensive training and induction course, after which they will be required to undertake four written examinations in accordance with ORR requirements for those carrying out safety critical work on the Volks Railway. Applicants should therefore be prepared to study, sit and pass these exams if appointed. A total commitment to teamwork and a full understanding of all health and safety issues on railways are the most important qualities for this position. 7x Fixed Term Contracts until 27th September 2015: 6x Full Time - 37 hours per week 1x Part Time - 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday 12.00 to 16.00 covering the lunch period).
