The ban on cycling along Hove seafront has been in place since 1909 however this may be changed after a proposed consultation which may commence this summer reports the Brighton Argus.
The possible change has been welcomed by cycling groups however those opposed are saying it would be dangerous.
A petition to change the ban was submitted to Brighton and Hove City Council last year. A council official told The Argus that “no work had been done on a consultation yet as the authority’s transport team focused on other priorities but a consultation was planned for the future.”
Apparently The Argus understands that a proposal to initiate consultation proceedings could be discussed at a transport committee as early as this summer.
