Nearly 50 jobs will be created at a new Waitrose store set to open its doors in Hove, in April 2014. The new store is part of Waitrose’s goal to open over 5 new branches across the country, employing over 300 new staff in total.

Waitrose plan to take over the current Co-operative store on Nevill Road in Hove. They will move into the branch in March 2014, and plan to open in April, increasing the number of staff in store by up to 50%.

The new Hove branch will not only create jobs for locals, but all of the current Co-operative employees will be offered a job with Waitrose to remain working in the Hove store. As Waitrose is owned by John Lewis, employees will benefit from their partnership scheme, being offered shares in the business. The company will also work closely with the local community, setting up a Community Matters and Partner Volunteering scheme in Hove. This will generate over £10,000 and up to 250 hours to be donated to local causes, chosen by people from Hove.

Hove’s new Waitrose store will be transformed between March and April 2014, ready for its grand opening. The company are excited to finally open a store in Hove, having been one of their goals for a while. In a time where a lot of companies are making job cuts across their business, it’s nice to see some economic growth and new jobs created for the local community.
